Commemoration ceremony for the Battle of Jutland 2026

THE 110TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF JUTLAND
This year, we mark the 110th anniversary of the Battle of Jutland.
Sunday, May 31 at 2:00 PM
in the Memorial Park for the Battle of Jutland,
Kystcentervej 11, 7680 Thyborøn, Denmark
On May 31 to June 1 1916, the largest naval battle in history took place off the west coast of Jutland. 250 warships and 105,000 men clashed in a monumental showdown between the British and German fleets.
On this 110th anniversary, we gather on neutral ground at the Memorial Park to honor the memory of the 8,645 German and British sailors who perished and were lost to the sea.
Program:
1 The Marine Association standard-bearers arrive, accompanied by the Lemvig Amateur Orchestra.
2 Welcome by curator/manager, Christian Toftgaard.
3 Gun Salute.
4 Speakers:
- Commemorative speech by Søren Gade, Chairman of the Memorial Park.
- Speeches by Ambassadors, Lemvig Municipality, and descendants.
5 Wreath Laying.
6 Memorial Hymns: "The Last Post" and "Der gute Kamerad".
7 Closing Remarks by curator/manager Christian Toftgaard.
8 Gun Salute.
9 The flags are carried out to the music of the Lemvig Amateur Orchestra.
Following the ceremony, a reception will be held at the café at Havets Hemmeligheder
